Thailand is nestled between the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, bordering Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia. It is exotic yet accessible, with something for every visitor. Relax on white sand beaches, hike through vast areas of tropical forest, or live it up in the humming capital of Bangkok.

Attractions
There is much for you to discover in Thailand. The country offers a huge range of new experiences in sights, sounds, tastes, and outlook. But different as it may be from your home, Thailand is probably the easiest exotic country for visitors. The people are friendly, leisure activities are well organized, the food is great and you receive excellent value for money.  

Getting to Thailand
Thailand is an international capital for air traveler. Bangkok if linked to all most every city in the world. The majority of tourists arrive by plane, all but a fraction through Bangkok's international airport. Chiang Mai, Phuket and Hat Yai airports also have immigration facilities and a small number of scheduled international flight arrivals, mostly from neighboring countries such as Singapore or China.

You can travel by train from Singapore, or Kuala Lumpur or Butterworth in Malaysia, crossing the border near Hat Yai with Bangkok as its terminus. Eastern & Oriental Express operates a luxury service from Singapore to Bangkok. It's a leisurely journey with several stops along the way.

There are road crossings from Malaysia in the south at Songkhla, Yala or Narathiwat. Crossings from Burma are frequently closed due to internal conflicts near the borders, and are often open only to nationals of Burma and Thailand. You can cross the one bridge to Laos at Nong Khai in the northeast. The main crossing to Cambodia is at Aranyaprathet.

Weather
The best time to visit Thailand is from November to February, when the northeast monsoon is blowing cool, dry air which serves as a respite from the heat. Then temperature ranges from 18ºC to 32ºC in Bangkok, while in northern and northeast Thailand, temperatures can get quite cool with morning temperatures as low as 8º C to 12º C with the occasional 20º C day. The summer period is hot and dry season (March to June). At this time temperatures in Bangkok average around 34º C, but can often reach 40º C with the humidity levels of 75%. From July to October is the monsoonal season, and the humidity averages just fewer than 90%, with temperatures averaging around 29º C in Bangkok and milder in hilly region.
